Joliet, IL- The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy took played their first day game at home in front of a stadium of energetic students from the surrounding area as the Slammers (2-3) hosted Education Day at Slammers Stadium. Danny Concepcion took the ball and kept the team in the ballgame until the Traverse City Beach Bums (1-4) exploded in the 6th inning for 7 runs and would go on to win the contest 13-12.

Beach Bums shortstop, Will Kengor, continued to be a tough out after plating 2 runs in the 1st with a 2-run double and finished a home run short of the cycle. Brandon Tidaback cut the deficit in half with his 3rd double in the last 2 games. Juan Silva homered in the 3rd inning to make it a one-run game and keeping the momentum on the Slammers side.

As the wind continued to pick up, so did the offense for the Beach Bums. They would bat around in the 6th inning as they plated 7 runs highlighted by a 2-run home run from left-fielder Alexis Rivera (1).

The Slammers put up a fight in the late innings as Ridge Hoopi-Haslam slugged his second home run of the game (3). Dane McFarland contributed with double that plated Alex Rodriguez for his 2nd rbi of the game (2). Down by just a run in the 9th inning, Haslam began with a leadoff walk and then stole second (2). After a long tough at-bat form Sam Tidaback he singled to right to score Haslam to make it just a one-run contest, but the late rally would not be enough as the Slammers drop game 2 13-12 to set up the rubber game tomorrow morning at 10:05 for day 2 of Education Day at Slammers Stadium.
