Baremore, Slammers Finish Homestand Strong With Walk Off Win Over Gateway

JOLIET, IL - With the final game of the Slammers/Grizzlies series under way, the Slammers sent Tyler Jandron and crew to the field with hopes to secure another series win. Today’s game also marked the final home game of the six game home stand at DuPage Medical Group Field. After a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie up the game. Lane Baremores' walk off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th gave the Slammers the 5-4 win.  

With the first two innings going scoreless, the Slammers came up to the plate in the bottom of the third and chalked up a run on the board. With his first hit in professional baseball, Terry Daniels drove in Tyler Depreta-Johnson for an RBI single giving Joliet an 1-0 lead. 

The 1-0 lead set by the Slammers wouldn't last long as the Grizzlies put three marks on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Andres Regnault would come home on a 4-3 play getting Jay Prather for out number one of the inning. Connor Owings would get to first on an error from Slammers catcher Zack Costello allowing Chase Vallot to score an unearned run. Connor Owings would score unearned off an RBI single by Jason Pineda. The top of the fourth saw Gateway take a 3-1 lead. Gateway would score again in the top of the fifth off a Andres Regnault RBI single that let Abdiel Diaz cross the plate further extending the Grizzlies lead to 4-1. 

After tossing seven innings, Tyler Jandron would be relieved by Keon Taylor in the top of the eighth inning. Jandron would see 29 batters while on the hill and send nine of those batters to the bench with strikeouts. 

Keon Taylor would hold the Grizzlies from extending their lead any further.Taylor would face nine batters during his time on the mound tossing 2 strikeouts. The top of the ninth saw a couple of runners on base for Gateway, but the inning ended on a fielder's choice 6-4 play to second base for out number three stranding the two Grizzlies on base. 

The bottom of the ninth inning would see the Slammers mount a comeback as an RBI double by Lane Baremore scored Patrick Causa to put the tally at 4-2. A huge base clearing single by Tyler Depreta-Johnson got 2 RBIs driving home Brian Parreira and Lane Baremore leveled the score to 4-4. With two outs and the bases loaded, Braxton Davidson came up to the plate. He would see a full count before striking out swinging to end the inning, sending the ball game into extras. 

The top of the tenth inning would see Slammers righty Trevor Charpie take the hill. Charpie kept the Grizzlies from scoring after having a runner in scoring position, bringing the Slammers up to bat. The Slammers would start their half of the inning with Dylan Hardy on second, advancing to third on a single by Patrick Causa. With one out on the board, Lane Baremore would come up to bat. Baremore would foul off the first pitch, then hit a stinger between the third baseman and shortstop of the Grizzlies ending the game with an RBI single as Dylan Hardy crossed the plate giving Joliet the 5-4 win. 

The win today would be the second series win of the homestand for Joliet and put their season record at 18-28. Today's win also puts the Slammers on a two game win streak. The next home game will take place on Tuesday, July 27th at 7:05 p.m. against Windy City. The Slammers travel to Schaumburg Boomers for a three game series, then out to Florence to face off against the Y’alls for the final 3 games before returning to DuPage Medical Group Field.
