JEFF ISOM

MANAGER

Jeff Isom is entering his fourth season as the manager of the Joliet Slammers. Isom is coming off a hot 2016 season after having coached the East Division Frontier League All-Star team, leading the Slammers to East Division champions, and being awarded the Roger Hanners Award for Manager of the Year.

The Indiana-native was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 18th round of the 1993 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Purdue University. He spent seven seasons playing professionally and has since coached or managed 17 seasons in the minor leagues. Isom has taken his teams to the playoffs seven times and is one of only six managers in Frontier League history that have over 400 career wins. In 2002, he was also voted as the Frontier League Manager of the Year.

 

MATT COSTELLO

PITCHING COACH

Matt Costello is entering his first season as the pitching coach for the Joliet Slammers. Prior to joining the Slammers, he was a pitching and hitting instructor at the Norcross Sports Training Academy in Norcross, Georgia. He also pitched for the Slammers during the 2014 season. Pitching as a starter and as a reliever, he finished that season with a 3-1 record and a 2.92 ERA.

DR. RYAN PIZINGER, MD, CIME

TEAM PHYSICIAN, MK ORTHOPAEDICS

Dr. Pizinger joins the Slammers for his third season. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maine, where he also played football. He attended Dartmouth College for his residency followed by an Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship in Colorado. He is the MK Orthopaedics Director of Sports Medicine.
